Ingredients

  • 2 g matcha powder about 1 tsp
  • 60 ml hot water (2 oz) heated to 70-80°C (158-176°F)

  • Optional sweetener to taste

Method

  1. Sift matcha powder through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl.
  2. Heat water to 70-80°C (158-176°F). If no thermometer, boil water then let sit for 2 minutes.
  3. Add hot water to the sifted matcha.
  4. Whisk vigorously in a W or M motion for 15-25 seconds until frothy.
  5. Heat milk and froth if desired.
  6. Pour frothed milk over matcha shot and stir gently. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best foam, use barista-blend oat milk or whole dairy. Store matcha refrigerated in airtight container.
